Hope & Anchor, E14

A back street boozer with a few benches outside and a decent floral display ,the interior is unremarkable ,open plan with white walls and a flatscreen for either racing or subscription sport.The servery in dark red is to the right side and on my visit the interior was being got ready for some West Ham celebration given the Claret and Blue probably a birthday rather than enthusiasm about the football being served up at the London Stadium. Beyond a darts board is a large beer garden with it's own flatscreen and occasional pop up bar so maybe televised sport is the main driver for customers here. Two unused handpumps ,usual multinational keg crap from which had a half of Carlsbery for £2.40.No need for a revisit.

The Hope and Anchor is a back street boozer with an interior that is split into a bar area to the right and a seating area to the left. The bar is stocked with standard draught products and during my recent Friday afternoon visit one of the hand pumps was unused leaving Ruddles County as the cask option. Beyond the bar in the right hand corner is a pool table and on the left wall is a dartboard and a plasma screen that was playing Gold FM. There is a jukebox that was turned off as I was the only customer. Before I left I noted the presence of a live music advertisement for the upcoming Saturday night. Out the back is a concreted beer garden and there are a couple of picnic tables on the path out the front. I found the barmaid to be very friendly, but this pub is not on my revisit radar.
