Narrow, pub making it feel cramped. Fine interior and small balcony on the river, upstairs balcony closed off

Charming and ancient pub in a upmarket area of East London.We were banging on the doors just before noon on a late spring Saturday, but still failed to secure a space on the little balcony overlooking the River. On the bar, behind which is stached Gandalf's Staff, Landlord was joined by a couple of beers from Adnam's-a nostalgic Southwold Bitter, and a collaboration with Siren Craft.As with the food, prices seemed "not bad for London". We enjoyed our visit, and all seemed well.

Very old and very narrow pub which is well described below. 4 ales listed on a chalkboard and my pint of Proper Job was excellent. I'd been wanting to tick this one off for a while. Well worth a visit - if only to see Gandalf's Staff!!
