The Cock Tavern, Hackney Central, E8

Tris's comment that it is twinned with the Southampton Arms make perfect sense. This is roomier, but has all the same hall marks of attention to detail on the beer and cider front. I did notice the sign with Ale, Cider and Meat was the same - although Meat is crossed out on this one. Single roomer, around a central bar. I very much enjoyed my Howling Hops Upper Crust - not least because it was only £4.17. Easily the best pub found today.
