The Alma, Wandsworth, SW18

An attractive exterior with the green tiling as described below, and also the pub name boldly displayed in large black lettering on the gable front. The main entrance lobby has some etched glass, and on the opposite front corner there is a section of mosaic flooring, suggestive of a previous entrance...the modern full length window and tiled reveals are also a giveaway. The mosaic theme is continued with a series of what looks to be framed circular mosaics on the walls with "Alma" picked out. Some of the more recent alterations upset the character a little, the island bar with no bar back is not in keeping with how I'd imagine the original, and the newer windows and doors are very bland. I quite like the clock on the iron frame over the bar however. A few games available, Scrabble, Monopoly, dominoes and Jenga were spotted, there is a fold down screen for sports too. Young's beers here, Ordinary Bitter, Special, London Gold, Bombardier plus nice to see local guest, Sambrook's Wandle. There is a seperate restaurant to the rear of the bar.

Large corner pub, with an island bar. Restaurant area at the back. Disabled access. Sells real ale. Variety of chairs in the main bar plus a tall table that seems to lean slightly.
