Prince of Wales, Putney, SW15

Although clearly aimed at the gastro-pub market, this place thankfully retains a traditional front bar. There is also another room behind (which has had much more of a makeover) and further on, down a couple of steps, is the dining area. Four handpumps - including Black Sheep, a draught cider and the seasonal Adnams Kölner as a guest beer (interesting, but horribly expensive at £4.00 and served with an annoying paper napkin underneath). Overall, a few quibbles but quite a good example of its type.

I found the staff in here to be very pleasant and the pub itself is very inoffensive. The rear of the pub is a dining area, but the front has maintained a pub feel. 4 lagers and Black Sheep plus another ale were on during my visit. There is a plasma screen on the wall along with lots of old tankards that have obviously been collected through the years. I liked it in here and would return if passing.
