There were two ales on - Young's London Original (nothing to do with london now of course), and St Austell Proper Job (£5.05 a pint!). A glance at the menu revealed a similar pricing regime - the cod & chips is 15 (£15 presumably). I'm afraid that I'm immediately prejudiced against a pub that charges over a fiver for a pint of ale, but that will no doubt change as I become more accustomed to having to pay that. I recall many years ago a couple of chums saying that they would give up drinking when the £1 barrier was breached (they didn't). But I dont think this pub is anything special unless you're here for the music, for which it's justifiably famous. There's a central island servery surrounded by the usual mix of furnishings, with a smaller room on the left as you enter with bucket armchairs and normal tables. A large room at the back on the left had all tables laid for diners. The main room had a couple of skylights - complete with model aircraft suspended in them - providing some welcome natural light at the back. The music venue is in a separate space right at the back. It must be dog friendly, as I spotted a board saying that the dog treats are provided by Pet's Corner. This pub is something of a London institution, but I suspect that it may play on its reputation and enviable riverside location in its pricing policy. I don't think I would revisit this pub as there are better options nearby.

This is a quality pub and well described below.All I can add was they had Proper Job,Trumans -runner and Youngs -bitter on cask.
