An unusual place, with the small farmhouse building at the front adjoining the much larger timber-framed barn at the back. However, this was rebuilt after a major fire in 2007 and - although superficially convincing - definitely isn't a heritage structure. That said, it's still an attractive place as an upmarket dining pub, and you can see why the beer garden gets very busy in the summer. As a McMullen house, I found AK mild and the Drift pale ale (£5.55) on the bank of four handpumps.
