Kings Arms, Greenwich, SE10

Very nice pub had a very good pint of Old Trip lovely girl behind the bar made us feel welcome so we stayed for another well worth a visit

This late Victorian Greene King pub is tucked around a corner from the Market and main shopping area and generally seems to be overlooked by visitors in favour of some of the more historic pubs in town. On the face of it it is a fairly generaic and mundane place. The carpeted interior has at some time been extended to the side and rear, the joins being quite evident in the wall remnants and ceiling lines. There is a mix of furnisings throughout the pub but it is generally a comfortable if rather formulaic place. Old and modern pictures of town adorn the walls including a stylish broken picture of the Naval College in the rear section. When the weather allows, there is an attractive and spacious patio to the rear with large umbrella cover and pklanty of greenery. Whilst the pub is part of Greene King, there is usually a guest ale available, St Austell Trelawney on my last visit supplemnteing the Old Speckled Hen, London Glory and IPA. At £3.25 for the guest, prices are quite reasonable for the area. The food comes from a fairly standard Greene King menu with main dishes around £7-£10 I have never really used the Kings Arms much due to the proximity of so many pubs that are at least as good but it is a harmless and safe option to fall back on with the advantage of generally being less busy at peak times than some of its better known neighbours.
