The Hill, Forest Hill, SE23

The Hill is a spacious Craft Union pub with a wood panelled serving counter up the right that supports standard keg alongside Cruzcampo and two unused hand pumps. Thick supporting pillars run up the centre of the pub where they separate the bar from a carpeted area up the left where tables and chairs line a long banquette that runs up the left-hand wall from front to rear. At the rear is a pool table and televisions throughout were airing muted Sky Sports World Championship Darts while a full Eminem album played in the background. It was dead when I entered around 13:00 on a recent midweek afternoon with just one local sat at the bar with the friendly manageress, but it did liven up a bit with more locals coming in before I left, I got a community local vibe. I enjoyed watching a bit of darts, but I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.
