The Craufurd Arms Hotel, Milton Keynes

A prominent Victorian boozer on Wolverton's main drag. The inside has been completely refurbished and is now entirely open plan with a mixture of high tables and stools and standard tables and chairs but there's plenty of space between these. It's clearly a music venue as the decor indicates alongside lists of forthcoming live acts. Many of these play upstairs but it would be relatively easy to rearrange the furniture downstairs so perhaps this happens as well. With its dim lighting and plenty of neon it doesn't really feel pub like and Wolverton's hipsters are clearly at home here. Don't be put off by this though as the atmosphere is good and everyone we encountered very friendly. Our visit found Hobgoblin Gold and Oakham Citra, in excellent condition, on tap. Not necessarily one for the traditionalist but I suspect that the Citra was the best pint available in Wolverton so it gets my vote.
