The Weavers Arms, N1

The governor in here was more than friendly and poured me a decent pint of Guinness and although the décor is basic there are two plasma screens for showing Sky Sports and there is also a pool table in the front bar area. There is a sparsely furnished room at the rear that had a couple of mountain bikes leaning against the wall during my visit last Wednesday evening, but there is a dartboard on the back wall and also a projector screen. I’d imagine the lack of furniture is due to large crowds in attendance when a match is on Sky or when a band is playing at the weekend. The upcoming band listed was of Irish decent but if this is an Irish pub it’s not in your face like some – not that there is anything wrong with that as I love a good Irish bar. There is no real ale here and this doesn’t bother the regulars as they all seemed to be drinking Fosters or Stella. Talking of the regulars, I didn’t find them overly accommodating and a few of the older ones had been on the sauce for twenty or so years too long. This is a local’s boozer that is probably not worth seeking out if more than a ten minute walk from your house.
