Akari, Islington, N1

This is primarily a Japanese restaurant, but there is more of a drinking atmosphere than found in most dining establishments. Shochu and Sake seem to be the order of the day alongside Kirin Ichiban and Asahi which are available on draught. All of the tables by the front windows were reserved at 19:00 last night (Wednesday) meaning that the only available seating was at the rear all on my lonesome. The staff were friendly, but seemed surprised I wasn’t there to tuck into the varied oriental dishes. I plan to return here with some friends in the near future, but I wouldn’t pop in for a quick pint again as it is not that sort of place. Comparing this place to an ideal pub would afford a very low rating, but I do not feel that this would be fair so I have decided not to give a score.
