The Inn of Court, Chancery Lane, EC1

The Melton Mowbray has been a reliable pub for a number of years now. One of it's big plus points is the friendly and efficient service. Food is popular but doesn't stifle the drinking experience as it does in some pubs. Prices have always been higher than average, well it is Fullers, but I got charged £3.45 for a pint of 3.7% Batemans XB yesterday and the Kronenbourg is now £3.65 a pint. The pub has got noticeably quieter over the last six months or so and at those prices it's easy to see why.

As would be expected there is a decent ale selection from the Fullers range in this place which is one of their ale and pie houses. There is also a selection of standard and premium lagers and my Guinness was good, but very expensive. The bar is on the left hand side of the pub and it had a large plasma screen on a stand at the end of it which was showing Sky Sports News which was muted. At the rear of the pub there are some booths with a balcony area above them that seemed to have the only other people in that weren't dining, although my visit was just after lunchtime. This is a decent pub, but it doesn't really stand out amongst its peers.
