This is a good Fullers pub.Particularlly like the mezzanine floor especially when busy it seems like you are watching a scrum below.Some pubs just feel right this to me is one.Always seem to get the new seasonal beers from Fullers and the beer is always in good condition.Holborn area has some cracking pubs.

The Melton Mowbray has always been a reliable Fullers pub for me, usually when we’ve had enough of the crush in the nearby Old Mitre or fancy something different to the Sam Smiths in the Citte of York. Perhaps no redeeming historical décorative or architectural features of some of its near neighbours, but pleasant enough as described by Rex below and usually enough space to have a comfortable drink. The Fullers beers are usually in good condition and always had a good pint of Pride on the times I have been in, as it was again the other evening.

This is a Fuller’s Ale and Pie pub, and had the full range of Fuller’s ales on, with the exception of Seafarers and Bengal Lancer. The Chiswick was in fine form, but at the fairly expensive price of £3.20 a pint. It’s named after the Leicestershire town famous for the pork pie of the same name, which of course is featured in the range of pies on their menu. The remainder of the menu is the usual Fuller’s ale a and pie house offerings. The floor is mainly dark varnished wood, but with a large blue and white tiled area around the bar counter. The bar is on the left as you enter, with seating on the right and at the back past the bar. There’s also a raised area on the right separated from the main bar area by wooden banisters, that looks as if it would make a good dining area, and a small mezzanine seating area above the rear seating area. There’s dark wood everywhere – they would be hard pressed to squeeze any more in – with a foot or two of the walls painted a dark red above the wood panelling. Decor on the walls seems to be prints of old London scenes. Furnishings are mainly settles, normal tables and chairs, and stools. An interesting feature is the tall wooden pillar on the right with a Fuller’s clock surmounted on it, and with a shelf for drinkers to use. There is an additional large room downstairs, which I suppose would be an overflow for the main ground floor bar. This is a comfortable and attractive enough pub, but perhaps they’ve tried a bit hard with the ancient all wood look. But they do serve decent Fuller’s ales, even if they are at top of the range prices. Overall this is a decent pub which I would be happy to visit again.
