Walkers Of Whitehall, SW1

I paid my first visit to this pub last week after a gap of over 10 years, and it didn’t look as if it had changed at all. It’s a multi level “iceberg” pub in that most of it is below the surface. It has a smallish bar on the ground floor; a mainly restaurant area down a level; and with another bar area down yet another level. The upstairs bar had just the one real ale on – Bombardier (£3.85 a pint), while the lower level bar had three on – Bombardier, Doom Bar, and Harvistoun Bitter & Twisted (also £3.85 a pint). They obviously do food, but I didn’t go into the restaurant area to peruse a menu. The pub is just off Whitehall in a narrow alleyway next to the Silver Cross. It is possible to walk past and not notice it, which I suppose is why it doesn’t attract too many tourists. It’s comfortably enough and furnished with pretty standard tables and chairs, and is OK for a pint or two as long as you’ve no problem with subterranean drinking.
