Weak Real Ale in a pleasantly turned out pub meant I had to resort to cider. Get some decent ale in to warrant a revisit.

It's improved a bit since John's and Rex's latest reviews, below, and is now a pleasant town pub, mainly used by commuters so lacking in conviviality, but at least the beer's better. Two ales on, Doombar and Landlord, both in good condition, and a pump reserved for a real cider, which sadly had a sign on saying ‘Symonds Cider Coming Soon'. There was a flat screen showing live sports, the staff were pleasant, and while there was no proper cooked food available, they did offer plates of nibbles. Worth including in a crawl.

One long narrow roomed pub with Landlord and Pride on cask.Bit dull.

Just the one real ale on in here - Doom Bar at £2.10 a half, with a Timothy Taylor Landlord clip reversed on the other clip. The single sheet menus features burgers - the "Monkey", with bacon, cheddar and red onions, and chips of course, is 8.9 (£8.90?). This is a single room pub. At the front is a row of tall tables/tall stools on the right, and on the left is a mix of normal tables and chairs and wooden pews, complete with cushions. The small bar counter is at the back on the left, and up a few steps behind it is a small platform with a sofa or two on it. The latticed glazed bay window at the front is a nice feature, but when I visited I didn't see a lot to recommend this place. Poor quality ordinary beer at expensive prices isn't really my cup of tea - but perhaps at another time when there might be a couple of decent ales on it might be a much nicer place.
