The Cask & Glass, SW1

The Cask and Glass is reputed to be the smallist pub in Westminster and with it being so small we did'nt get a seat inside so we stood outside watching the world go by. As i did'nt stay inside i car'nt comment on that but the beers were very nice. This pub is a Shepherd Neame tied house and i had a drink of Shepherd Neame Master Brew and this was a really nice drink. I would have liked to visit the pub when it was quieter but i still enjoyed my drink here. Pub visited 3/4/2002

A stone's throw from Westminster Cathedral is this tiny Shepherd Neame boozer, which a group of us decamped to on a saturday lunchtime. Staff were friendly and efficient and a TV was somewhat unneccesarily showing sky 1 in one corner. Pints of Late Red (£3.40) were consumed and I'm sure I'd have liked this place a bit more if I could get on with SN beer, sadly to say I can't (all their beers have a flavourless, watery quality to me). Still, its a lovely old pub in a touristy location, and if you like Shepherd Neame you'll enjoy it here for sure.

This very small pub (reputedly the capital's smallest) had more customers stood outside with their drinks than there were sat inside, yet amazingly I was still able to find myself a seat and have enough room to read my paper in comfort - even on a Friday evening. The interior is fairly pleasant with a nice traditional bar and some comfortable leather banquettes running along the front wall in addition to some efficiently laid out tables and chairs. A small TV was on in the corner of the room, but it wasn't tuned in properly, so there was nothing to watch. The pub had a nice, calm atmosphere and struck me as being a good place for a post-work pint, so long as you weren't in a large group. It's a Sheps pub, so no surprises at the bar, with Masterbrew, Spitfire, Kent's Best (£3.20) and Whitstable Bay on the pumps. I had a half decent pint of the Kent's Best served to me by a fairly miserable barmaid who struggled to comprehend my simple order. I'm not a big fan of Sheps pubs, but this place had enough charm about it to make me consider a return visit. A guest ale or two wouldn't go amiss though.
