They had London Pride, Old Speckled Hen, and Adnam’s Bitter on. I paid £1.85 for a half of the Adnam’s, which implies £3.70 a pint – or perhaps I was just short-changed. The main thing you notice on approaching this pub is the mock “Brewer’s” Tudor beams covering the outside walls, and then the fact that it is clearly an ex-Younger’s pub with the trademark attractive and distinctive leaded light windows. Inside it’s a fairly small bare-boarded room, with dark wood everywhere giving it an ancient feel. Seating is predominantly tall stools at ledges around the sides, as well as at the bar, plus a few normal tables and chairs. It seems that there is an upstairs restaurant, but I didn’t go up there. I didn’t notice much in the way of wall decor, except the framed amusing “Murphy’s Law” sayings. I thought that this was a reasonably good little pub – nothing very special but a decent enough place to stop for a pint (assuming they don’t really charge £3.70 a pint!) if you’re in the area.
