Great little back street pub. Small and unpretentious, not tourist-oriented like so many around here. Three hand pumps with Pride, Tribute and a very good Westway Pale from Portobello (£5.50/pint - NBSS 4). Landlord was keen to talk and enthusiastic about his beers. Definitely worth a visit.

A corner pub free house with magnificent stained glass windows ,there is a real boozer atmosphere inside.The bar back is equally impressive but sadly poor lighting and little wall decoration give the rest of the interior a strangely bare feeling.In one corner by the bar is an upright piano and there are regular piano evenings.At the far end there are fitted bench seating with brittania tables,but this is a small pub and the drinking shelves will be well used. Four handpumps were pulling Ilkley Mary Jane,St Austell Tribute,Fullers London Pride and seasonal Boardwalk (NBSS 3.5,justifying 2020 GBG entry). Rather tinny muzak wasn't need with the pub busy,but it's a decent watering hole without being a true real ale destination.

Unchanged since our last visit, though there seems to be an obvious Irish bent here but perhaps that was the case before? Otherwise, the ale choice is similar with the line-up of a pump not clocked, Pride, Tribute and Brick Brewery’s Peckham Pale APA at a pricey £2.40 a half though very nice. In all this was a better experience than before; the piano playing was less enthusiastic, though the pianist has been here 30 years and the barman was more forthcoming. A very decent pub with the score upped accordingly. 30th July 2016: Somewhat surprisingly, this is a traditional backstreet boozer in increasingly fashionable and wealthy Marylebone. Rebuilt in 1890 and well described below with what are clearly some old banded Charrington's leaded lights. This is a small pub with an attractive bar, etched mirror bar back and pot shelf. However, the lower half as well as the t 'n' g panelling are painted fuchsia - it's a bit like drinking inside a pole dancer's thong. There's the upright joanna taking up quite a large chunk of the limited space and the singing and tinkling on the ivories were a bit loud, meaning that conversation would be strained at best. The rather off-hand landlord was serving Fuller's London Pride, St. Austell's Tribute, Box Steam Brewery's Summer Buzz and Southwark Brewing Co's Bermondsey Best at £2.35 - not bad but really a bit pricey. This pub is OK and better than the typical pub-cum-style bars that infest the area, but it's not worth a special trip.

In the back streets of Marylebone, this is a street corner free house with an old-fashioned feel to it. The pub has an unsymmetrical staple shaped floor plan with the red tongue and groove fronted bar counter confronting you immediately upon entering. The bar has a simple dark wood gantry and bar back embellished by a series of small etched glass decorative screens. The pub is incredibly compact, with no room for tables and chairs opposite the bar - just vertical drinking - whilst over to the right there is a cramped corner with some very limited high table and stool options. This whole front part of the pub is flanked by some marvellous leaded windows with green stained glass banding and a mix of clear and obscured panes. To the left is a more spacious seating area, although this is only relative to the rest of the pub - it's still a very small space. Here, two red L-shaped banquettes run around the front and left hand walls, supported by a few low stools. Decor is very traditional and includes a couple of classical-style paintings, a Marylebone Lane road sign, an ancient pub price list and some old handbills run up by the pub for Tony 'Fingers' Pearson, who has apparently played piano at sing-a-long evenings in this pub for almost thirty years. Unfortunately my visit didn't coincide with such a performance, so I had to make do with some highly incongruous dance music which was thankfully playing quiet enough to occasionally get lost under the general chatter within. The toilets can be accessed from the rear left of the pub, passing under a nice diamond patterned stained glass window. There was a fairly mixed crowd in here on my mid-week visit, with the usual pavement overspill associated with Central London pubs, but it seemed a lot quieter than the other pubs I visited that evening. The pub has found its way into the 2017 Good Beer Guide and there were four beers on the bar to sample on this occasion - St Austell Tribute, Fullers London Pride, Bath Golden Hare and Rudgate Patriot Ale. A cheerful barman served up a good pint of the Golden Hare for £4.70 and I noticed that quite a lot of customers were on the ale, so the good throughput was doubtless helping on the quality front. This is a pleasant enough little pub with a good deal of character and a proper local's pub feel to it - something that is increasingly difficult to find in the capital. The ale range may not be the most exciting, but quality seems to be high on the agenda here, so I would certainly be happy to visit again, perhaps for one of Tony 'Fingers' Pearson's sing-a-longs!

Very dated small bar, normal pub fittings - red padded benches, round wood tables, red patterned carpet. Some nice stained glass but feels like it needs updating and it is very expensive. The four real ales are kept well, but not enough to save the pub.
