This is a Greene King pub, with GKIPA, London Glory and, because it's nearly Christmas, Rockin Rudolph on. Nothing to set the pulse racing there, but the Rockin Rudolph (£3.60 a pint) was in decent nick. Food was available on Wednesday lunchtime, with main courses around £7 - £8, and four daily specials (e.g. loin of pork and seasonal vegetables) advertised on a separate sheet, for £8.50 a pop. That's not unreasonable for this part of the world. The pub itself is just one room, bare-boarded, and furnished with normal tables and chairs. All tables had condiments on them, but this is anything but a gastropub. The Christmas decorations in here are less garish than in most places, with wreaths hung between the windows, sprigs of holly on the window ledges, but with a few obligatory lights hung above the windows. The walls all have some nice dark wood panelling with a small ledge at the top bearing vases, jugs, bottles and similar knick-knacks. A small table by the door with newspapers for customers' use is a nice touch, and there was also a small bookshelf, plus some attractive mirrors and a fireplace with what looked like a cast iron surround. This pub is anything but minimalist. This really is a decent enough little place, but I'm not a great fan of Greene King ales. But it's horses for courses of course, and if you're OK with GK ales I guess you would like this place.
