A large detached Marston's pub and eatery, with a sizable patio area to the side where they hold events too. The building is Tudor, but the rendering and later Victorian additions make it appear somewhat fake. It is in white render with a projecting upper storey, with a row of small windows. The lower facade has black pilasters and interesting Gothic tracery. The interior has been totally murdered in the past. It is now an open plan long room, with the more dining area at the back. The front area is in cream patterned wallpaper, cream and coffee, with a middle section in dark red and wood panel - there were old photos on the walls in these areas. The dining area is in coffee upper wall and ceiling, with cream and wood panel walls and a patterned carpet. There were more bistro art pictures on the walls here. We did eat here out of convenience, and the food was decent enough. There is a TV, which wasn't on at my visit and the music was general and at a decent level. The service was very friendly and there was a busy and very mixed clientele. Beer; Ringwood Boondoggle, Old Thumper, Banks's Sunbeam and a decent Jennings Bitter. A place to pop into for one, or have a budget meal. The beer choice and quality place it better than the average Marston's foody place. I would agree with RAR below, it was looking a little tired and it was a bit stuffy, as it was busy when we called, but I would pop in again.
