The Kings Head, Bourne

A supermarket company has abandoned plans to build a shop on a former village pub site, instead opting to knock down another pub opposite and redevelop that site. Lincolnshire Co-operative demolished the old King’s Head pub in High Street, Morton, in November, submitting plans to build a supermarket there the following month. At the same time a separate planning application to demolish The Lord Nelson, in Bourne Road, and build a food store in its place was submitted by Aegis Architects. This week Lincolnshire Co-operative revealed that it had abandoned its plan to develop the King’s Head site and had instead switched its attention to The Lord Nelson.

The pub had a fire last year and is no longer open for business.
