The Red Cow, Market Harborough

A typical town centre pub, a bit stripped back and with a good number of big screens. Two pulls with Old Speckled Hen and a fairly dreadful if cheap, Taylor’s Landlord, usual lagers etc. It’s on the High Street directly opposite the Three Swans and quite a contrast, a door out of the back room is directly opposite the Nags Head. The back room has tall seating and a further screen, no sign of table skittles or darts in here. I didn’t venture upstairs forewarned by Moby’s review even though the allegedly fearsome landlady wasn’t about. Mixed age, obviously all male, clientele watching an exciting European football game.

A couple of decently laid out rooms inside giving a decent pubby feel. More seating upstairs was advertised on the wall so attempted to have a look but was admonished halfway up the stairs by an increasingly stroppy landlady saying it was closed and forbade me from even having a peek. The two beers were Old Speckled Hen and Landlord, so it was a second pint of the latter on this trip for me. I've knocked a point off for the stroppy landlady/bar person.
