The Bell Inn, Aylesbury

This is the only pub in the village of Chearsley, which overlooks the village green. We arrived to find a few people sat on tables outside the front of the pub, with a separate undercover area on the left-hand side of the car park entrance. To the rear of the car park is a garden area complete with children's play equipment. The single bar interior is quite dark and atmospheric. Local drinkers were crowded along the bar deep in conversation, whilst a couple of groups were sat finishing Sunday lunches at two tables nearest the large fireplace on the right-hand wall. Blackboards advertised the various food options, which seemed to include plenty of pizzas. The two female bar staff were quite cheery and being a Fuller's house, we had the regular Pride & Seafarers to choose from, alongside a guest beer, which was Hophead. The pub is listed in the latest Good Beer Guide. Euro 2024 football was being promoted. Whilst I didn't spot a TV, some of the local drinkers were on their way home for lunch before promising to return for the England match later in the afternoon. So, they were presumably showing it somewhere (possibly outside). As Fuller's pubs go, this is quite a decent one. With friendly staff and a nice drinking environment, it is just the limited ale selection that sets it back slightly.
