Mucky Duck, Rochdale

Called in here on a Friday night recently, boy is it an experience! I’m not saying it’s a good experience, but it’s certainly different. It’s a long thin room with the bar on the right as you enter, there’s no real stuff of course, but it is very cheap. There was a DJ/Karaoke guy towards the rear and a small area that acts as a stage/dancefloor. There’s also a quiz machine. Most of the punters are in the late middle aged bracket and most seem to have some sort of problem. These range from the guy who shouts out stupid answers when you’re playing the quiz machine and then says “I was going to go for that one” when you ignore him and choose the correct answer, to the woman who “dances” to every song despite having no inkling what rhythm or co-ordination is. This place is a perfect example of “Care In The Community” in action.
