The Steamer, Fleetwood

This large corner pub isn't too bad. Quiet on this afternoon visit. A couple of real ales available.

was once a very busy pub but was very quiet no one in mid afternoon had to wait for land lady to finish on laptop got two pints of hand pull not very good she just about threw them at us to get back to her lap top long time before we call back

Situated halfway between Corfe Castle and Wareham, this pub has always struck me as the best place to head for food if the pubs in the Purbecks are too busy during tourist season. Set in a fine thatched building, with a lovely interior suited to this type of country pub, the main attraction is the food. I enjoyed a good, if unimaginitive, steak and Tanglefoot ale pie and the prices were reasonable given the location. Beer-wise, there were a number of Badger Beers on offer and I tried the seasonal beer called 'Lemoney Cricket, which, as the name implies, had a clear but not overpowering aftertaste of lemon - fine for a summer's day in the large beer garden.

This large one room pub is situated just across from the famous "Fleetwood Market" and is convenient to both bus and tram stops. It's in CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2010 but I find the real ale can be a bit "hit or miss". Good value "basic" food served. Venue for the Fleetwood Folk Club which meets every Thursday.
