British Admiral, Sheerness

Walking through the entrance of the British Admiral leads one straight to an L shaped bar that runs around to the left rear. At the rear are a pool table and a dartboard that was being used by a few locals, old and young, for some arrow chucking. There is a plasma screen that was airing a documentary about death row prisoners. The extremely friendly barmaid was in mind to turn off the TV but the two aged locals in the bar had become addicted to the story so it remained on. It was a cold Thursday night that I visited and a couple of old gas heaters were on overdrive to make the pub toastie. Alongside some standard draught the bar supports three hand pumps. One of these was off leaving Young’s Ordinary and Briscoe’s Auld Lang Syne as the ale options. This is a back street boozer that I could take or leave and I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit, but I do wish that the barmaid worked at my local because she was joyful and cheered up a rather poor atmosphere.
