A large roadside pub currently owned by Shepherd and Neame. In previous years it was known as a bikers' pub; the Triumph Owners' Motor Cycle Club still meets here. Now it's a friendly town local. There is a car park at the back away from the main road, and a good sized garden at the side. The interior has been knocked through so the bars form a circular space around the central servery, while there is a small dining room at one side. Food is of the cheap burger genre. There are TV screens and a drop-down screen with projector, used to show sports matches, and live music is regularly hosted. The staff seemed a little distracted, apparently more interested in operating the coffee machine than serving beer to passing strangers. There were two ales on, Masterbrew and Spitfire, both in perfectly drinkable condition. Worth stopping for a lunchtime beer, especially as it's the last opportunity before arriving in Strood.
