The Red Lion, Ramsgate

WhatPub reckons this to be the oldest surviving pub in town. It’s a straightforward no-nonsense boozer with a fairly simple interior over two areas - wood trim, black beams and bare board flooring throughout with pool and darts in the elevated rear section. Was here for its GBG listing and on that front it didn’t disappoint with 3x Gadds including their Oatmeal Stout which was in good nick (NBSS 3.5). Of most interest was the hair of the landlord who looked like he was in an 80s hair metal tribute band. Friendly service from Mrs Hair Metal and we were made to feel welcome. Unusually, vaping is allowed inside which will certainly hold appeal to many in the winter months. A solid place that justified its inclusion on a long hot day’s crawling.

Good no nonsense pub which had two Gadd's beers both which were in very good form. Very close to the town centre but unfortunately not near to the railway station which after the walk is a very good pub to have a pint.
