Northern Belle, Margate

Side-street boozer. Looks nice from the outside what with the painted octopus though inside is not much to write home about; white and turquoise laid-out in a tight horseshoe shape. Two naked pumps so was rasped 3 quid for a half of keg, Brixton Low Voltage which tasted a bit dusty. Reading other reviews it appears that this was previously a Sheps pub and it looks like that is no longer the case. The locals and landlord (new as of last August) passed the time talking about how haunted the pub is. Think the only haunting in here is the ghost of a pub that used to be good to the extent of GBG standard but has gone backwards whilst the rest of Margate’s town centre pubs gone forward.

Can’t better any of the comments below and my recent visit concurred with what people have previously said about Margate’s oldest pub. Spitfire, Master Brew and Whitstable Bay on the three pumps for my visit and the Spitfire was fortunately in good nick.
