The Walnut Tree, Oakwood Park, Maidstone

Attractive pub set slightly back from the A26 Tonbridge Road to the west of Maidstone. Inside, there is a cosy, carpeted L-shape room. There is also a pleasant patio area at the front of the pub, with some seating undercover. Rather sarcastic signs requested that customers keep the noise down due to complaints from their neighbours. Presumably the pub was here well before they moved in! When we arrived, there appeared to be only a couple of real ales - Goacher's Fine Light Ale & Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter. A third pumpclip was turned around. However, it soon became apparent that it was only turned around as a local did not like looking at the picture of King Charles on the pumpclip! This beer was Musket Gracious, which I duly ordered. Locals and bar staff seemed a fairly friendly bunch. It's a fair trek to get here from the centre, but it probably just about warrants its inclusion in the 2023 Good Beer Guide.
