The Crown, Reading

The Crown is a locals' pub situated on the main road through the village, which happens to be a quiet road. We arrived to find a group of around 8-10 blokes engaged in various conversations and all sat together in one corner. We had to wait at the bar for quite a while before the landlord arrived to serve us. Fuller's London Pride is the regular beer. The guest beer was Renegade Good Old Boy. It turned out that neither were in particularly good condition. My drinking partner's Good Old Boy was very cloudy, whilst the locals rejected the first two offerings of Pride, before settling on a third effort. The bar is split into two sections, linked by an archway. There also appeared to be an outdoor area somewhere, as a couple were coming in and out for drinks. Fairly run-of-the-mill place which is the only pub in Swallowfield itself.

A quiet village pub,well it was quiet on my Friday lunchtime visit,maybe it's busier in the evening, essentially two interconnected room's by way of an open archway. Six handpumps with three in each area, beers on in the end I chose to drink were Pride, Greene King London Glory and Timothy Taylors Landlord, the latter being in good nick, annoyingly I failed to note and remember the other three pumps choices but suspect a couple were duplicate.
