The White Horse Inn, Faversham

The basic layout of this former inn is as described below, though the furniture is back and it feels a bit more welcoming now. They offer B and B, and they have a good reputation as a restaurant, but it has lost something of the pub feel, not helped by the lack of real ale now. The only draft beer on offer was East Coast Pale Ale on keg. Service was very slow, and the meal was expensive for what it was. Restaurant style food, some of it quite novel, catering mainly for dining couples and groups. The staff were pleasant and it was comfortable enough, but it’s not really somewhere I’d come for a few beers.

Attractive old inn, still offering accommodation, and one of many fine buildings on the former main road between Canterbury and Faversham. The refurbished interior comprises two bars, set at 90° to each other, but looking rather sparse due to much furniture having been temporarily removed for social distancing reasons. The rear beer garden has also been supplemented by some wooden benches by the car park entrance to one side. As a Shepherd Neame house, it was no surprise to find just Master Brew (£4.00) and Spitfire available from the pair of handpumps on each counter.
