Backstreet Shepherd Neame pub that looks tidy enough both inside and out. Features the expected semi-traditional furniture and decor in the slightly split-level main bar area (the upper part housing a dartboard) and the smaller bar on the other side of the central servery. Just Master Brew(£3.70) available from the three handpumps, but this was in great shape.

The General at Sea is a Shepherd Neame pub located in the back streets of Chatham. It was very quiet during my recent late Monday afternoon visit, but then most pubs are at this time in the week. The bar supports the usual SN draught and two of the hand pumps were unused leaving Master Brew available from the other two. There is a pool table, dart board and plasma screen that was switched off. I didn’t spot any Sky Sports advertised, but there was some background music playing off the jukebox. I found the service to be friendly enough, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit as I’m not the biggest fan of Shepherd Neame beers.
