The Retreat, Ledbury

Craft Union outlet in an attractive building. A deep and narrow interior over three levels - a carpeted lounge, the bar and a pool/darts area at the end. Football being shown on a myriad of screens plus an accompanying whiff of damp. Two cask, GK OSH and an atrocious Doom Bar (NBSS 1.5) which I dumped.

Long narrow pub near the top of the main street , there is seating on either side of the entrance with a fireplace on the left with a small collection of local free mags and a selection of board games on the shelf above , a short flight of stairs leads to the bar which runs along the left with a couple of quiz/gamblers to the right in a small alcove with more free mags/guides , the pub opens out a little to the rear and is more of a dining area , there is a small outdoor drinking area . Usual keg taps with two real ales HPA and Butty Bach from Wye Valley and around six real ciders mostly from nearby Westons , there is also an extensive cocktail list . Live music is advertised for weekend nights . Service was good and friendly the beer decent and the locals a chatty bunch on my Thursday lunchtime visit.
