Mayflower Village, Southampton

Encore Is a town pub, with quick pub grub on its menu. ( Burgers, Scampi, Lasagne & chips galore!leaving a distinct vinegar aroma in the air). Well furbished and decorated, with many interesting posters of former shows from the Mayflower Theatre, which is next door. We visited pre-matinee on 17th October 2009, to grab some lunch before the show. It was extremely busy and I suggest that if you wanted to grab lunch before a show that you arrive at least 1hr 30 mins before the show starts. Even if you’re just popping in for a drink before a show, you’re unlikely to get a chair and table! Although the staff were efficient and polite, where it was busy they lacked the friendly welcoming that you come to expect. They did have 3 real ales on swan neck pumps, including ruddle’s country and London pride.
