The Farmers Home, Free house is in the village of Durley. Well signposted from Horton Heath and Bishops Waltham. It is a proper country pub, dark and warren like in its interior, with a large rear garden. They have several hand pumps, I enjoyed a Ringwood Best Bitter, there was also HSB. I have been here several times, and always receive good service. In many ways it is more a restaurant than a pub and is always very busy, so you are advised that whatever time of year you go to book or arrive early! I have only ever enjoyed the lunch & bar menu, good range of proper home cooked pub grub. Meals being £7.95- £8.95 A la carte menu, eaten in the restaurant, has a range of starters from £3.00 - £5.50 garlic bread, pate, homemade soup, crab fishcakes. Steaks are from £14.95 - £19.95, never tried but do look tasty. All other meals are between £9.95 and £12 and a specials board. I have heard many good things said about the food here, but have also heard that just sometimes the desserts don’t live up to your expectations. They have a big rear garden, with plenty of seating, and smokers can enjoy a roomy covered area. For children there are swings, swing boats, climbing frames and slides.
