in wigan yesterday and the building has beeh refurbished, but not sure if it will be a pub.

New menu, new management, new furniture. An excellent meal was enjoyed by all who attended. Staff were courteous and friendly. Value was excellent and the beer is probably the cheapest in the village - although that is not saying much. Fab beer garden with the river flowing past. I would suggest that it is well worth a visit and it is kid friendly with the boucy castle in the huge beer garden. All in all - a great experience.

Not impressed. I ordered the burger and chips, burger was obviously made from cheap mince not the steak as advertised and it was overcooked and tough (I suspect it had been cooked earlier and reheated), accompanying salad was minimal and chips tasted like they had been refried more than once, my partners meal was pasta with salmon, the pasta looked like it had been overcooked then reheated and the salmon was pale and tasteless, all this with one starter and two drinks came to over 20 quid. Matters were compounded by the gruff service, smelly toilets and one of the employees sitting by the bar in their pyjamas. Came out feeling completely dissatisfied and ripped off.
