The Bell Hotel, Tewkesbury

Externally, the Bell has the appearance of a Tudor building, but I suspect it is much older. Internally, it is 'open plan' but with 'open partitions' separating it into areas. As a 'hotel bar' the Bell has a certain blandness to its historical charm. It just lacks the character that other pubs in Tewkesbury has. It has its black beams and thick walls and central open fireplace, but it just felt pared down. But that's just my own taste. Service was very good and the customer base was mixed. Apart from the usual bar stuff, there were two real ales - Greene King IPA and Abbott Ale. I had the Abbott. I always thought I hated Abbott, but I think I am getting a taste for it. I have had it a number of times from different pubs and its growing on me. I had food here, Lasagne. It was delicious. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Bell and I would always come back for another pint. Its just that for me, I felt more comfortable in other pubs in Tewkesbury. It is just my personal taste.
