The Pelican Inn, Gloucester

I was looking forward to this Wye Valley House and it was pretty much as expected - a traditional boozer on the edge of the City. Large drinking area, with bench seating around the walls and typical pub furniture. The complete range of Wye Valley on and the Butty Bach was as good as it can be.

The Pelican is a Wye Valley Brewery house, found a short walk from the centre of Gloucester. Early on a Friday evening, the pub was absolutely buzzing with just a few seats to be had. The locals were friendly and up for a chat with a travelling toper. 10 handpumps are principally devoted to Wye Valley, with a few guests. My arrival coincided with a happy hour offer, so the already reasonable prices were reduced further. I enjoyed my visit and I doubt there's a better pub in the city.
