The Brewery Tap, Luton

A Greene King pub near the University of Bedfordshire just outside Luton's pedestrianised town centre, the Brewery Tap is an old building that has had all its internal walls taken out. This leaves a number of brick pillars - some painted red - and a number of beams - some seemingly original, the majority simply modern RSJs covered with wood. There are four hand pumps, three serving GK beers (IPA, Old Trip and Sorcerer when I was here), plus a guest. I had the guest, Thwaites Wainwright, which was OK but not really to my taste. There are leather arm chairs and sofas in the slightly lower level where the TV screens are, elsewhere the plain wooden tables have leather easy chairs. The pub goes back quite a long way, and the beer garden is also surprisingly large. It was pretty quiet here on a late Tuesday evening when I was here, most of the other drinkers being local students.
