The Hollington Oak is a large Greene King pub with a big garden out the back that houses some picnic tables and a children’s climbing frame with slide. The island bar supports two hand pumps that were drawing IPA and Ruddles. There was also a standard draught selection from which I had a Guinness that was well served by the barmaid. To the right of the bar is a seating area, but the main body of the pub is to the left of the bar where a plasma screen was showing muted rolling news. I didn’t spot any Sky Sports advertisements, but live sport is advertised for Saturdays. Wednesday is bingo night, Thursday is quiz night and Sunday is poker night. There is a free jukebox on Friday nights and the other days of the weeks have meal deals on offer. A thin extension on the left hand side of the pub houses a pool table and three dartboards. The handful of locals present all seemed harmless enough and families are welcome. This is a nice enough pub, but I wouldn’t make it my final destination.
