The Wheatsheaf is one of two pubs in this part of Willingdon and in my opinion it is the better option as I found there to be more atmosphere and more of a pub feel. There was a jam night in progress during my recent Wednesday evening visit and I must say that there were some very talented musicians in attendance. There is a quiz every Tuesday from 20:00 and there is a meat raffle on Sundays. Food is served at lunchtimes, during the evening and from midday until 15:30 on Sundays. I didn’t see anyone eating during my visit, but I did have a couple of roast potatoes that were laid out on the bar and I must say that they hit the spot. Harveys Best, Betty Stogs, Landlord and Sussex Old Ale were all available alongside a standard draught selection that included Stowford Press cider and Courage Dark Mild. I found the service to be very friendly and the Guinness went down a treat and at £3.30 a pint is 50p cheaper than the Red Lion which is this pubs peer. There is an advertised beer garden that I didn’t visit due to inclement weather and there is a car park over the road which I think is for the use of this pub’s customers. This is a friendly split bar local village pub with lots of cosy seating and I would have no problem returning.
