The Marine Tavern, Brighton

Just the barman and his mate sat at the bar on my Saturday afternoon visit,a small long room with wood paneled walls, two handpumps with just one adorned on a homemade cardboard clip handwritten with London Pride, I avoided and settled for a Neck Oil. Despite the heritage claims it all seemed a bit grotty to me.

May not be the smallest pub in Brighton, but it must certainly have the narrowest frontage? Anyway, it has an interesting Camra heritage interior with plenty of wood panelling of uncertain age. Fairly modest selection of draught beers, but thankfully Harvey's (£5.80) was available from one of the pair of handpumps. Quite quiet later in the afternoon I visited, but I imagine that it will liven up later when Stephanie Von Clitz's Sunday School gets into full swing!
