The Brighton Tavern, Brighton

The Brighton Tavern has two bars and the first I visited was the busier left hand side where there is a fireplace with some seating and the bar that supports three hand pumps. One of them was unused and the other two were drawing Harveys best in accompaniment to the standard draught products and San Miguel. The right hand side back bar has a couple of steps down and is basically a room with more seating that is available for hire. This is a gay pub with the rainbow colours in the window, but I wouldn’t have noticed except for the pink lighting and the unobservant gay barmen making me wait for an age by the gay magazines whilst they flounced behind the bar. There is a plasma screen that was off and unsurprisingly there were no Sky Sports advertisements that I noticed. The Guinness was good, but I can’t see a return visit.
