The Up Steps Inn (JD Wetherspoon) in Oldham

A small spoons in a fairly hideous new build, the inside is typically dark wood, metal balustrades, deco light fittings and upstairs toilets. Long and thin with the usual type of furnishings and indeed clientele, there are machines clustered at the bottom of the stairs, a screen or two and booths down one side. Two banks of six pulls but all doubled up so take out the unholy three and the choice was Phoenix Arizona, a Hook Norton dark beer I think from the recent beer festival and a Beartown Kodiak. All very typical, it was rammed on a Tuesday lunchtime but even so the staff left something to be desired. Plastic glasses only outside on the pavement seating area.

Thoroughly refurbished a few years ago (albeit at the price of losing its famous hanging baskets) and relaunched with a PubLove hostel above the bar. Food offered under the Burger Craft brand, and also open for breakfast from 09:00. Mix of furniture inside, and plenty of wooden benches out on the pavement on two sides. Usually has a good choice of real ales, and on this visit we found four of the six handpumps in use, with regulars Sambrook's Pumphouse Pale Ale, Harvey's and Titanic Plum Porter plus Lilley's Lemon & Lime cider. Usually also has about a dozen (mostly crafty) beers on the two hooped keg founts.

The Tipperary pub in Fleet Street, London, has reopened after four years of closure, excellent news, since it’s one of the most attractive little pubs in the City. Planning permission was actually granted in April 2020 for its conversion into office use, but one of the very few benefits of ....

[QUOTE=Tris39;133341]Some of my photos, all of which have been jigged and poked to death in Photoshop, have been waiting approval for years which I find baffling, though perhaps the small number of pub cats and Tom Selleck (?) may not meet with approval.
