Quite similar to a Wetherspoons when you first walk in, without the clutter on the tables and the place being mobbed. This pub also stipulates over 18's only and doesn't serve food either. The interior was a good size and was well kept, there were 3 ... [more>]

This is an extraordinary pseudo French-ish style Cafe bar which feels like a cellar, with old wine bottles on the walls, but obviously isn't, being located down an alleyway opposite an old church in the centre of Gloucester. The bar offered 3 ales,... [more>]

The Pelican is a Wye Valley Brewery house, found a short walk from the centre of Gloucester. Early on a Friday evening, the pub was absolutely buzzing with just a few seats to be had. The locals were friendly and up for a chat with a travelling toper... [more>]

This hotel dates back to the 15th Century when it was originally a coaching house. The interior is traditional and has a country pub feel to it. The bar area is located down the far end, which incorporated a pool table opposite. Four handpumps with t... [more>]

A decent traditional pub with a welcoming young couple managing the place. The interior is a bit of a labyrinth, but if you keep heading right of the entrance down a narrow tiled corridor, you'll find two small lounges with a single bar supporting bo... [more>]

Quite a while since I visited the home of BCA and it is still a great pub. 8 ales on alongside 2 ciders. I went for a pint of Beowulf Zwodder which was excellent. The usual Black Country Ales decor and cobs etc available. Well worth a visit.

Another change of name - it’s now called Ryan’s Bar, same owner of the Bell Jar in Dixon Avenue.

The pub claims that it dates from 1861, though this may be a rebuilding date, as it’s recorded as existing at least 20 years earlier, situated down a gloomy backstreet, a stone’s throw from Clapham North tube. It’s an attractive double-fronted buildi... [more>]

Rather hidden away from the Telford Centre shopping centre and adjoining entertainment complex, but I suppose that it needs to be in one of the outer units so that it can adopt its own opening times. Anyway, the square main bar area and a smaller si... [more>]

Large pub / restaurant (with the emphasis very much on the latter aspect), featuring numerous, semi-separate seating and (mostly) dining areas plus a front beer garden. Just Doom Bar (£4.70) from the bank of three handpumps.

Typical Ale Hub micro-pub in a box-like end unit in Perton's shopping precinct. Simply furnished, with semi-modern tables and chairs, and sparsely decorated too. However, this one had music on at slightly above background level, so that won't be t... [more>]
Wright Brothers Oyster & Porter House Recommended by Just a quick pint, then I'm off |
An 'Oyster & Porter House' restaurant that does also act as a bar selling keg and bottled beers (if you sit outside looking at the hustle and bustle of Borough Market). There a four draught options from Harbour Brewing - including their oyster stout... [more>]
