Lethal place. Four ales on hand pumps during my visit all 5% or above. Very small and decidedly dangerous steps down to the toilet. Would definitely return.

Busiest pub of the day but managed to get a seat and enjoyed the real ale on offer but forgot to write down what it was! Would return.

Not at all like the Rileys in Yorkshire. Very plush inside but no real ale and just the standard keg offerings.

The Wheatsheaf is a large standalone pub at the end of the main high street in Southwell. Located next to the small market that is held a few times a week. The Wheatsheaf is a classic old school drinker’s pub and as such moves away from the usual gas... [more>]

The Saracens Head is set in a former Elizabethan coach house on the main high street in Southwell’s village centre. It is very striking from the outside with Tudor style black and white panelling. This is actually a fully functioning Hotel with a lar... [more>]

This is a former Kimberly tied house that like their other pubs became Greene king after the takeover. This is a horrible corporate Hungry Horse pub with cheap meals and lots of family’s dining. The decor is the generic Greene king crapo with no dist... [more>]

The White Horse (JD Wetherspoon) Recommended by Aqualung . |
The White Horse is an original pub but has almost certainly been changed beyond recognition. Inside it's a long low ceilinged room with a smaller eating area at the front and a larger one at the rear. The bar is on the right and there are several alc... [more>]

This is a pub just by the bridge in Bridge Street. After you enter there are some stairs ahead of you which I suspect may lead to a restaurant area and a door on the left leads to the bar. This has a small carpeted area with low tables and chairs lea... [more>]

The Yarborough Hunt is an old pub on the western edge of the main town centre. It's the brewery tap for the local Tom Woods brewery and is a long narrow room with a wider area at the front and the bar on the right. There is a snug at the back left an... [more>]

The Silkstone Inn isn't the largest of Spoons and is basically a square room with better than average fixtures and fittings. There are just eight hand pumps which had the JDW Trio Of Doom, Milestone Black Pearl & Cathedral Gold, Little Critters Blond... [more>]
The Joseph Bramah (Lloyds No1) Recommended by Aqualung . |
The small frontage to this place conceals quite a large Spoons with a long narrow split-level room and an upstairs area that I didn't even notice. Fixtures and fittings are fairly typical. It's a Lloyds but the location of the Lloyds Disaster Area wa... [more>]
The Horseshoe (JD Wetherspoon) Recommended by Aqualung . |
As noted below this is an original pub but inside could be any building. It's an open plan square room with the bar on the left, a raised eating area to the right and a patio downstairs. I noticed the food prices were cheaper than average here and th... [more>]
The Wagon & Horses (JD Wetherspoon) Recommended by Aqualung . |
The Waggon & Horses is an original pub but dating from 2013 as a Spoons. It's a roughly square room with what looks like a new conservatory area at the rear with a paved patio behind. As tends to be the case with newer Spoons the fixtures and fitting... [more>]
The Steel Foundry (JD Wetherspoon) Recommended by Aqualung . |
The Steel Foundry is a relatively new (mid 2015) shopping centre JDW where the main entrance is within the shopping centre itself. It's a single shallow room with a small patio at the end. It seemed to have just shoppers and after work folk in on my... [more>] |
