The Queen of Iceni (Lloyds No 1)

A large Lloyd's No 1 in a complex surrounded by several bars and clubs. On two levels and it seems to be aimed at the younger set. Although there was a fair selection of ales on I did not like the sterile surroundings of this pub.

Not a bad Spoon's but nothing to get excited about. There are a couple of distinct drinking areas and there were several ales on and those I tried were in good nick. This pub does not have the feel as the usual Spoon's and is a fair way out of the ci... [more>]

One room with three keg pumps including Shipyard Pale Ale. A few tables to sit at. Only me in on Friday afternoon. Shut Tuesdays.

Newish Marston's pub which is the same as all the other ones that have opened up. Caters mainly for diners with, happily, an outside area for all the screaming kids. Hobgoblin and Wainwrights on hand pumps. Won't be returning.

Next to the Varsity which had all the custom as there was only me in the place. No real ale - standard keg rubbish only.

Seems food oriented but pleasant enough. Three keg offerings - no real ale of course.

When I went in there seemed to be a lot of uncleansed tables, but, to be fair, this was soon rectified. Usual hand pumps on offer - an easy place to while away the time waiting for my train.

This place has a keg pump but apparently it is not used as is doesn't sell.

One room micro pub but not a great selection of real ales on my visit - nothing above 4.5% ABV. Fine maps of the world and the UK on the walls. Shut Monday & Tuesday, 3pm to 9pm Wednesdays & Thursdays and 1pm to 12pm Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.

This had a better selection of ales than Cask & Keg - I had Beavertown @ 5.5% ABV. Shut Monday, 4pm to 9pm Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 4pm to 11pm Thursdays, 2pm to 12pm Fridays, 1pm to 12pm Saturdays and 2pm to 11pm Sundays.

Decent one roomed pub with a few offcuts. Usual selection of real ales including Peerless Tectonic @ 6.2% ABV. Would return.

Good selection of Rudgates Ales - five in total, two of which were 5.0% ABV. Monday shut, Saturday 1pm to 9pm, the rest 4pm to 9pm.

Decent enough place. Nothing above 4.5% ABV (Moorhouses). Clientele were OK to say it's outside the station. Didn't have time to check out the back room as I was catching a train.

Seems to have been a bath showroom but is now mainly a restaurant but does allow drinking, although not much space for it. No real ale of course.
