An elongated building that is older than usually suggested, although it was a village club before becoming a pub in 1951, and it is now buried in the extensive Medway Towns conurbation. Partly opened-out and refurbished, but some traditional elements remain in the various seating / dining areas in a slightly split-level arrangement. As a (barely branded) Greene King house, I found IPA and Landlord as a guest (£4.40, less 10% Camra discount) available from two of the four handpumps, with a couple of Lilley's flavoured ciders on the other pair (with other clips on the bar-back suggesting a rotating range).

E TA left this review about Flying Saucer

The Flying Saucer is a busy John Barras-owned village pub, built in the 1960s, not the chocolate-box type but a modern, working pub. It consists of a single long bar with a mix of wooden and carpeted floors. There are gaming machines, tv screens showing regular Sky Sports events and a dartboard, and the jukebox was set at a sociable volume. The clientele represent a good cross-section of the local community, though the balance was towards the football lovers, while the staff were friendly and polite. The food is pretty dire, it must be said, and the fixtures and fittings are unremarkable. Two ales on, Bombardier and London Pride: I had the former which was in surprisingly good condition. Overall a decent enough local, OK for a pint if passing staying locally.
